   First of all I want to thank Kev_USMC for his thorough review in 2017 (particularly the tip on using thread lock liquid). For the purpose of this review, I will cover four areas of concern that I could not find enough verification on by reading a great number of reviews: 1. Is the mattress ‘in’ the bed frame or ‘on’ it?, 2. Are the slats sufficient for the average foam mattress?, 3. How will the headboard look with my 12” mattress, and 4. Can I change out the legs? I was able to make educated guesses on some of it by using measurements provided by the manufacturer, but I’ll try to make it easier for you. **If you are not inclined to read all of this review – I’ll simply say that if you own a typical 60”x80” queen mattress 12” thick or less you will love this bed! A note on the thread locker (this is a small tube of liquid available at any auto parts store, Loctite is the familiar brand) – I highly suggest it; I decided to use it on every single bolt even all of the pre-installed bolts. It works; I had a couple of bolts that set up before I tightened them and they were ‘locked’ in a way that I could still loosen them with a ratchet, but also in a way that gives me confidence that the bed frame won’t start creaking. 1. As I read numerous complaints that mattresses wouldn’t fit this frame – and by reviewing photos, I believe that this bed has undergone a design change since 2017 and now the mattress does not sit ‘in’ the frame – it sits ‘on’ it. Please note my photo that shows the 80” measurement that goes all the way ‘over’ the footboard; the top of the footboard provides support under the mattress, so the mattress literally installs over the top of the footboard by design. I believe that this was achieved by raising the slats in response to negative reviews. 2. Please note my photo that shows slat placement to be at 3.25” well within standards for all mattress types. 3. I found the bare pictures of the bed to give the illusion of a taller headboard- for reference, I’ve included a picture of my bed which has a 12” mattress on it. I’m pleased enough with the scale. 4. The legs on this bed are plastic. I’m not really a fan of this detail, so I planned to replace them with wooden legs that are more tapered. Unfortunately there are a couple of problems with that: the bolt thread patterns do not match and the leg height is a bit unique which would mean that even if you were willing and able to modify the threads, you would still have to cut four legs precisely which is fairly difficult (but certainly possible) to do with a tapered leg. Oh – and you can’t simply accept a height difference in the legs because this bed has a steel support frame with 5 legs, each of which would require modification. So for now, the black plastic legs remain.

   I unboxed my bed tonight, ready to build. I wasn’t expecting much for a queen sized platform bed costing a little over $200. Well, I cannot tell you how much I am blown away by this bed! I have no affiliation with the seller or the manufacturer, but I’m going to sing their praises from the roof tops. When I opened the box, I was immediately greeted with another box inside. This thing is packaged well. I was already impressed, and confident there wouldn’t be any transport damage, which I was correct to presume, it was perfect. The first thing I noticed once the inner box was open, is how tidy this thing is packaged… All inside the headboard. It is almost like the headboard is like a travel case. That was it!! i’m excited, I love little titbits like that. We all know, when it comes to that time when we decide to move, one of the hardest things to transport is the bed, not this thing, just strip it down, put it all back in the headboard… Presto! problem solved! Once I had removed all the items from the headboard (which isn’t many.) You can really tell the quality of the materials used, this thing feels expensive. I love the fact that the centre frame is only two separate pieces, which expands into a fully cross section, which is so sturdy. Even the headboard, the base board and the 4 side sections are all very well made, nothing feels cheap or flimsy. and thats all the parts you get, apart from the Lats, which again isn’t 20 pieces of flimsy wood, with silly cheap plastic clips on the ends which never fir the holes. These Lats come in two bundles. each bundle all the Lats are connected with strong velcro straps, once the frame is made, you just lay these Lats on top. Summery.. Not only does this bed look more expensive than it actually is, it is build to a higher quality you would expect to find in much much more expensive platform beds. It can be stripped down and all the parts stored in the headboard. It doesn’t contain a thousand pieces. It really does only take 20 mins max to build. I’m that impressed, I wouldn’t in a month of Sundays, dream of writing such a detailed review on a bed – haha. If you have any doubts, please don’t, I guarantee you will be amazed by this bed.

   I bought this bed the same day we bought our house because our old bedframe and boxspring were trashed. It arrived a day early and the delivery guy helped me bring it in. The box it came in had a few holes from transit but the bed itself had no damage. I set it up by myself in about an hour. I didn’t have any missing or incorrect pieces and everything came packed tightly. I found it easy to assemble and actually enjoyed the process. I was looking for a platform bed with wooden slats. My husband and I are not small people. He’s 6 foot 7 and near 400 lbs of muscle. He has knee problems that case him to “flop” down once he bends them past a certain point. In combination with his size it means that he bent the metal rim of our boxspring beyond repair. So I needed a platform bed and I wanted wooden slats I could replace if he broke them. That being said, we’ve had this bed for 3 months now. Not only have the slats not broken, but they haven’t bent or bowed even a little under our combined weight. It does not creak or groan in any way no matter how we move or shake the bed! I LOVE the velcro slats! They haven’t slid or moved an inch since I put the bed together. I’m so happy with the bed that I’m planning to get another Zinus frame and mattress for my guest room. This frame made my mattress a million times more comfortable. For a full month after I got this bed I laid down every night and told my husband how much I love the bed. I was worried that our size and weight would be a problem but this bed is as solid as a rock and as comfortable as a pile of Angel feathers. Bedframes.shop has a fantastic return policy so take a chance on this bed! It’s sturdy, beautiful and comfortable!

   For a new apartment, I needed a bed to go with my existing mattress. I wanted something reasonably priced, raised high enough off the ground to sit on, sturdy and well built, and attractive. I saw this on Bedframes.shop, read the reviews and decided to try it. At it’s price if I didn’t like it, I figured it would give me something to work with while I shopped for a better bed. Somewhat to my surprise I’m very pleased with this bed in regards to meeting all of my criteria. It’s more attractive in this color and fabric than I would have expected and I don’t feel the need to replace it with something more attractive or of a different style. In fact, I recently saw a bed at Crate and Barrel that looks very similar for $1300. This bed is raised high enough so that sitting is comfortable, and sitting in bed with my head against the headboard is comfortable, too. Assembly is not any more difficult than the many other beds I’ve assembled. In 2010, I temporarily worked for a furniture company delivering and assembling a variety of wood frame beds and this is definitely as good or better than the more expensive beds I delivered. This one feels more sturdy when built, where those other beds were simple wood frames with screwed in slats. They’re so simple that I always wondered why they cost so much. This bed in design is more advanced with well thought out metal parts that hold their shape when connected as a whole. I gave this product 4 of 5 starts for two flaws on my specific unit: There was a gash of about 4″ in the fabric behind the headboard where it was damaged either during manufacture, packaging or shipping. Because of my need for a bed, the location of the flaw and the difficulty in shipping it back, I’ve decided to just live with it. The other flaw was a bent metal latch where one of the rails hooks into the headboard. This is a pretty thick piece of metal but I was able to bend it back into shape and assemble the bed. I had to make a lot of decisions and purchases for my new apartment, and this bed was both one of the easiest and best choices I made. I think what satisfied me the most is that I got so much for such a reasonable price, easily saving $400 from what I would have bought locally.

   Wow. This thing was beautifully packaged inside the headboard, with sturdy inside to protect the front of the headboard.
   The whole thing is covered in material so it’s soft on the head and shins.
   The screws were smartly packaged, with spares labeled.
   Easy snap in system let’s you feel secure about the sturdiness, and the slats are held together by velcro straight out of the packaging and attach with the velcro to the bed frame.
   They included a ratchet tool, not just an Allen key, and I put it together by myself in about 90min.

   I would very much recommend this frame and will be buying another in future if we need to replace any other beds. A seriously smart setup!

   3 years and going strong ———————————– I can’t speak highly enough of this bed. We had a large, very large, overbearing king size bed. Our bedroom is not huge, but certainly isn’t small. We wanted to clear out our room a bit and sold out 5 piece set. We’re planning on moving from Maryland to Texas someday, so we wanted furniture that was more transport friendly. The headboard holds all of the pieces of the bed, scary right? How can something that will hold the combined 550+lbs of myself and my husband? We started to put it together (it’s all done by allen wrench…if you have one already, you can put it together faster). I started shaking the frame as much as I could…negligible movement. When the frame was complete my husband and I both shook the footboard toward the headboard (to ensure stability for adult activities) and again, negligible movement. The slats are the funny part. They come in 2 sets that are connected. You roll out the slats and they velcro in…they aren’t going anywhere. The headboard is the perfect level of firmness. Our Tuft & Needle foam mattress (check it out on Bedframes.shop, the trial period is longer direct). We instantly gained a foot in width from our old set. The bed and headboard are drastically lower, but it’s nice to literally fall into bed when you’re tired…or just because. We also instantly noticed that our mattress was instantly better supported because the slats are very close together. We had been using box springs over a traditional bed frame. Our entire bed is more stable top to bottom, up and down. There is room to store under bed tubs underneath. Another thing is that I sleep with one pillow now instead of two. My bottom pillow doesn’t sink down between the headboard and the bed…I’m literally sleeping completely differently than I have for probably my entire life. In the picture you can see our old wooden headboard compared to the size of this bed. You can also see how much smaller the footprint is on this baby.

    Like most of you, I had reservations about ordering a bed online. But like most of the other owners of this bed, I’m so happy that I did. I ordered the button tufted queen size bed frame just in time before they sold out and Lord am I glad I nabbed it in time! I live in a tiny apartment off of my university campus and was worried about how I was going to lug a giant box up 6 floors with no male help (I mean, I’m a strong, independent, Asian woman who don’t need no man, but I ain’t THAT strong)! Well no worries there because a day before the estimated delivery date, FedEx plopped it right outside my door (bravo FedEx guy). I was also worried that since I was getting one of the last batches of this product, parts of it would be missing or possibly defective. Again, this bed proved me wrong. Everything came tightly packed inside the headboard and nothing seemed missing or out of place. The headboard is beautiful. I love the color and how it’s fabric instead of nasty faux leather (ew). Assembly was relatively easy, but like others have mentioned, the pictures are a mess. I could have put together the bed by myself but, luckily, my roommate came home and decided to help after she saw me struggling with dragging a giant @$$ box across our living room. Unfortunately for her, I ended up letting her do all the work (whoops, sorry Shannon ;p), which again, really wasn’t that much work at all. It only took us 30-45 min to put it together. I have a 10″ tuft and needle mattress on it now and there’s still a lot of headboard left to see after adding the comforter and pillows. Bed doesn’t budge, looks so beautiful, and is 100000000% worth every penny. Even my MOTHER agrees I’ve made a good decision on this bed (and trust me that lady is VERY hard the please #dragonladiesunite). This is the bed that if I were Oprah Winfrey I would buy everyone one!! Hopefully it comes back in stock for all of you sorry suckers who missed out on the queen size button tufted bed frame. I’m sure the other colors are just as nice though 😉

As you can see from the photos, I have three daughters with down syndrome and I am 74 years old. The box was quite heavy, so we took it apart downstairs and carried it upstairs in pieces. The instructions were fairly clear. They give you a little package of extra screws. You get a ratchet and an Allen wrench and three screws. Because I’ve never been able to figure out how to use a ratchet I was forced to use the Allen wrench on all of the tightening. That makes it a little more difficult. Do not be fooled by these three screws because the bed has many more that you have to adjust. Do not tightened all the screws until you’re done. There are screws in the bed itself that you have to unscrew a little bit to slip the bed rails on to the head and footboard. That is why there’s only three screws in the package. It took me a while to do it because I can not squat or get up and down off the floor, so I had to bend over the whole time. It was hard on my back and all the blood rushing to my head so I had to take a lot of breaks. But all in all it was fairly simple and I highly recommend this high-quality very sturdy bed. It’s not real feminine, but it works. My other daughter’s bed is a black railing bed, so it kind of matches.

    As I went to unbox the Zinus king platform bed I realized that it was double boxed. This was a good thing since UPS had put several rips in the outer box due to the weight and size. The inner box was in near perfect shape, and the contents inside were pristine. The quality of the linen, stitching, and overall construction is outstanding. I was able to assemble everything in about 1 hour. I do not like the center metal legs since it is easy to kick if your previous bed didn’t have one. I ended up wrapping some thick dark gray padding around it. I then unboxed the Zinus 12 in. green tea mattress. After I pulled the plastic wrap it started inflating on its own. I was miffed as to how the mattress was overlapping close to 2.5 in. at the foot of the bed (picture attached). I broke out my measuring tape and the mattress measures close to 81 in. in length, and this is after 48 hours so that it had time to finish expanding. I measured 80 in. from end to end on the side rails, so you lose roughly 1.5 in. due to the padding on the headboard. I am not sure why hasn’t Zinus addressed this issue since their own mattress doesn’t fit properly. I’d also like to point out that the bed does squeak a bit if you are “active” on it. Check the bolts that attach the frame to the headboard. You may even want to try some thin teflon shims to silence it. ** Update 5/28/16 ** Zinus (Chris L.) contacted me the day after I wrote this review. The only thing he commented on was the squeak. I told him I was more concerned about the improper sizing. So far no response. ** Update 6/11/16 ** I sent another email to Zinus ( [email protected] ) on June 1 and never received a response. I set up an Bedframes.shop return 1 day before my return window expired. I’ll call Zinus on Monday since supposedly they have addressed the sizing issue and will have the new stock on hand shortly. At this point I am not impressed with Zinus customer support since they make an effort to reply to Bedframes.shop reviews, but if your issue is regarding the improper sizing you may be ignored. ** Update 6/27/16 ** I sent Zinus support another email with a different subject, and later that day Chris L. replied. We came to a mutual agreement and are currently working on a resolution.

    I want to start off by saying this is a great bed. It seems really sturdy, it’s well made, inexpensive, nice to look at and it was relatively easy to put together (I was able to build it alone in an hour or two). The problem for us was that you really can only use a standard mattress thickness unless you want it comically high. TLDR: this won’t work for kids if you have a thicker mattress. We bought this for our toddler (yes I know that sounds ridiculous with a queen mattress but it was the extra mattress we had sitting around). We thought we would be good to go because it’s low profile, until we realized that for a thicker mattress, we really need a floor to slat distance of no more than 10”. This is 14”. It’s just way way too high for our purposes. I wouldn’t consider this a good options for kids, if that’s what you were going for.

    Having just added the Zinus Modern Studio Platform 3000H Metal Bed Frame to my guest room, I was a little nervous about this Upholstered Platform Bed. Why? Because unlike other Zinus products I’ve owned, the metal bed was of poor quality — dents and rust on the metal. I wondered if this one would have problems too. Thankfully, other than a few small tears on the back of the headboard (which are not visible when pushed up against the wall), I found no flaws in the Upholstered Platform Bed. Zinus got this one right. The box is fairly large and quite heavy. Since I ordered the King size, this may not be as big an issue for those getting smaller options. In my case, I wasn’t able to carry the box up to our master bedroom by myself; it was just too heavy and awkward. Simply getting it temporarily into the garage required a dolly. So keep this in mind if you are ordering. While the delivery service will drop it off at your door (at least, mine did), you will likely need another set of hands for getting it into your house. Once I opened the package, I was a little surprised to only see the headboard. At first, I was like, what? They forgot the frame? Was there a second package I missed? It didn’t take long for me to figure out that the guts were all in the headboard. When flipped over, I found a zipper at the back of the headboard and sure enough, all the parts were in there. This is actually a smart way to keep the packaging down, but at the same time, some of the wooden frame pieces poked into the headboard’s material. As mentioned above, this only affected the back side and not the front, so no real harm was done. After everything was unpacked, it took me about 30 minutes to assemble. No special tools are need as it comes with an Allen wrench. There are more steps to the assembly than there are with their SmartBase Bed Frames, which simply unfold and are tightened by wing nuts. This one has three bolts in a package (the other four are spares). That doesn’t mean you only have three bolts to screw in, rather, Zinus has the other bolts in the frame already. You simply need to loosen them a bit before attaching the relevant part. Following the directions was pretty simple, no wording just visual pictures (like how IKEA does it). Just be sure to follow them closely as I accidently started attaching the wrong part of the frame to the headboard. I was able to assemble everything myself without the need of a second party holding or steadying parts (granted I did use the wall to hold up the headboard). It might go faster with another set of hands if only to aid in screwing, but then again, I could see having another person as being in the way and slowing things down too. One thing that sets this Upholstered Platform Bed apart from other Zinus frames is that you don’t need the Non-Slip Pad (sometimes included, sometimes purchased separately for $20). The reason for this is due to the wooden planks that sit lower than the frame, which offers a lip all around the mattress to keep it in place. It fits more snugly without the need of added friction to prevent slipping. I paired this Upholstered Platform Bed with the Sleep Master Classic Spring 10 Inch Mattress, King, and they work perfectly together. Not only does this setup work great, but it looks great too. Really adds class to our master bedroom. Both me and the wife feel like snobs just owning it, ha! Seriously though, it’s a good option and we are both happy with it. The only negative is that there isn’t a lot of storage space underneath. If that’s important to you, I recommend checking out the Zinus SmartBase Bed Frames (just keep in mind they don’t have headboards).

    This bed frame amazing nut not perfect (but it can be perfected).
    Honestly, I’m completely blown (astounded lol) at how this bed frame set was packaged and shipped. I mean every part of this set was neatly packaged into the headboard! And it came in a singular (albeit heavy) box. And the heft of the box wasn’t a bad thing, as it is a testament to its sturdiness and durability. Side note: I feel like i “could” break it down, and store everything back inside the headboard, but i never see us doing that lol.
    I love the color, pattern, and texture of the headboard and body. Putting this bed together was a breeze (i was able to put it together in approx 2.5hrs and surprised the Mrs. before she got home from the salon.
    Now my ONLY qualm, would be the wooden slats that the actual bed rests on. Without being graphic lol, this bed is put to use, and although there is a metal (spinal) component that also supports the bed, we did hear a crack, and later found that two of the slats were broken. Meh, as i said, this bed can be perfected by utilizing a complete wooden board as a base, and i sorta wish the company put two board segments in the headboard, rather than the slats.
    All in all, this bed is definitely worth the buy and will elevate any bedroom its placed in.

    After some of the reviews I was a little worried about quality due to people receiving components for beds of differing sizes. I was also worried about the actual shade of the product. Often times, especially with greys that have some pattern to them the actual colors can be really different in person. Luckily on both counts everything was perfect. The bed itself seems really high quality, no creaking or cracking. I actually had a 5.0 earthquake after the first week and rode it out on the bed. I was pleasantly surprised by it compared to my previous Ikea bed (higher quality one). It used more wood then this one which is mostly a metal frame with the fabric panels attached around them. My Ikea bed during lots of movement in the evenings (wink wink nod nod) would creak a bit, but as I said this one is super solid. Putting it together was another pleasure. I was expecting lots of fiddly parts, especially since everything comes inside of the headboard but everything is held together by the weight on it and some simple bolts. It took me about 45 minutes to put together myself, I think if you had more people and more space it would go even faster. I’m pretty sure you could also put it together without instructions, it’s really simple. The instructions were really good though so either way you should be good. I’m not sure how long this bed will last with my cat who thinks everything worth more then $100 is a scratching post but based on the construction I definitely feel like the actual bed would last and move well. Definitely a good buy!

    I don’t write reviews often, but I felt like this bed really deserved a review. Shipping – The box arrived a little marked up and small tears.. but nothing really bad.. just normal shipping marks on the box. Once I opened the box I was greeted with another protective box inside, to make sure nothing was damaged. Excellent. – The box is hefty but not super heavy. Definitely manageable weight. Would recommend 2 people to move it. The initial opening – Opening the second protective box. All you see is the headboard. The whole bed frame and accessories are inside the headboard with zippers. All components were wrapped individually and perfect. The parts. Every part feels like it is perfectly built. It all fits together with exact specifications. They even threw in a little allen wrench , and another allen wrench ratchet. Plus spare bolts of every size. The metal support frame is all hinged so , it just flips into place and you put screws in to lock them down , to keep them from falling over. Awesome way to keep setup quick and almost fool-proof. The bolts feel like premium metal, no sharp edges. The side boards fit so well together, and feel very secure and tight. Velcro lines the top of the side boards, allowing you to add the wood platform slats quickly and without tools. The wood platform slats are all tied together with fabric and velcro , in a rope ladder sort of way. Which means all of the slats are perfectly alligned and spaced. Picture – I’ve attached a pic of the finished product. The for reference, the mattress we bought is 14 inches tall , and we have pillows under the quilt and shams on top. I can be pretty critical of products, but I kept saying to my wife the whole way through the setup. This is “So well thought out”. Honestly , one of the best products I’ve ever bought on Bedframes.shop. I will update if anything starts to change my thoughts on the product.

    Bought this for our 3 year old when upgrading his bed. I wanted something with a lot of support that was going to be sturdy and hold up to a toddler who moves around a lot and would probably be jumping on his bed all the time. I want to say assembly for this was crazy easy. However I took one star off because one of the screws in the headboard that you have to loosen to hook the side piece onto, was so stuck it stripped the tool that came with it. I tried several other things to get it loose and ultimately was able to find a bit for our impact driver that fit and got it out. I don’t know why only that screw was so stuck but I was exhausted and frustrated trying to get that thing out after putting the entire rest of the frame together. It was literally the last screw I needed loosened. But in the end I got it out and bed put together and it looks great, very sturdy. I really love that the support boards are attached with Velcro. Our other beds they have been nailed on and as a military family who moves every 3 years, the frames get ruined from nailing those pieces on. Also all the pieces came inside the back of the headboard which had a large zipper, so next time we move we plan to disassemble ourselves and put the pieces back in there so the movers don’t loose anything.

    If the headboard is missing any attachment hex screws, I wouldn’t bother unpacking any of the parts hidden in the back of the headboard. Return it immediately. Zinus did not get back to me after their stated 24-48 hours as per their website automated support chat. You need to follow up again with them through the chat on their website to get a live person. I wasted over two weeks with Zinus support only to receive screws shorter than what came with the bed frame. (Maybe Zinus changed the screw length for bed frames manufactured after 06/22.) A return pick up was scheduled a week from when I started the return process. Bedframes.shop XL delivery was a no show during the pick up window and lied about not being able to contact me as I did not receive any phone calls. Now I have to wait another two weeks for another scheduled pick up. After lugging the box outside for pick up and then back into the house, I’m not looking forward to doing it again. The box is pretty heavy. If you ever hope to be able to put the parts back in the headboard for moving or for a return, you’ll want to take photos to document how the parts are arranged inside the headboard as you’re taking them out.
